Timing & Screen Blanking

I want to write a simple app for mobile devices. At startup, the app presents a page with a few, simple choices (say three buttons). After the user selects her choice, the screen goes black for some amount of time. After the timeout, the user is again presented with the choice screen, and the process repeats. Suggestions on how to get this behavior? Is there a particular Sencha Touch example that would help me figure this out.

Actually this is a too much generic question, and it's hard to help you with so few informations.
Can you post something more of your code?
However, I suggest you to take a look at the examples already included in Sencha Touch package and the documentation.

I'm trying to get started so I don't have code. The application is very simple. Here's what I want to do...

1. Present screen that says "Touch me"
2. When user touches the screen, it should go blank for 5 seconds.
3. Go to 1.
