Is GXT an other name for ExtGwt or an other product from Sencha ?
Is GXT an other name for ExtGwt or an other product from Sencha ?
Hi,
We think about adopting GWT. So, we have to make some architectural choices and we look at available candidate solutions.
First we understand :
- Ext-Gwt is a wrapper for javascript library ExtJs
- SmartGwt is a wrapper for javascript library SmartClient
- Gwt-Ext is a wrapper for old version of javascript library ExtJs (not an option for us)
But secondly, we read that Sencha also produce GXT which is not a GWT wrapper for javascript library but a GWT extension from Sencha company. Ok, nice, but unfortunately GXT doesn't appear in Sencha product list.
So we are in doubt. GXT is an other name for Ext-Gwt, an other product, or nothing at all ?
So :
- it seems that GXT is just an other name for ExtGwt. Also i have found references to GXT in ExtGwt reference documentation. again some marketing confusing terms ...
- but finaly this is not a wrapper for extjs library but a full java solution (GWT extension) like i first thought before to be confused (perhaps it was a wrapper in the past and become a full java solution more recently, that could also explain confusion between GXT and ExtGwt product names)
- it seems that GXT is just an other name for ExtGwt. Also i have found references to GXT in ExtGwt reference documentation.
This is correct.
Ext GWT, or also named GXT, is not a wrapper around Ext JS but fully written in Java.
GWT Ext was a wrapper around Ext JS but is no longer under active development and was also not maintained by Sencha
SmartGWT is a wrapper around SmartClient.
