    Question Unanswered: Update DockedItems HTML

    Unanswered: Update DockedItems HTML

    I'm having a problem with doing an ext.component.update. I'd like to be able to select something from a list in my rightToolbar, and have the HTML text in the dockedItems in my appPanel be updated.

    Code:

    var appPanel = new Ext.Panel({
                                           id: 'appPanel',
                                           layout: {
                                           type: "hbox",
                                           align: "stretch"},
                                           fullscreen: true,
                                           items: caro,
                                           dockedItems: [
                                                         {itemId:"bottomBar",
                                                         html: "here's a test",
                                                         style: "background-color: red;",
                                                         height: "20%",
                                                         dock: "bottom"},
                                                         rightToolbar]
                                           });
    In the itemTap handler for my list I have:
    Code:
    appPanel.dockedItems.items[0].update("Here ya go.");

    That updates the text, but I lose my formatting stretching my "bottomBar" dockedItem across my screen.

    Should I have more in my .update? Can you control the formatting via this update to retain the style I had in place?

    It's also manipulating my list to not highlight and unhighlight properly, it seems related but I'm not sure yet.

    update() will blow away anything in the panel's body and replace it with what you pass in update()

    If it blows everything away, and I replace it with the same formatting HTML/tags, how come it doesn't retain being stretched across the bottom of my panel?

    Changing my update code to:
    Code:
              appPanel.dockedItems.items[0].update({itemId:"bottomBar",
                                                   html: "here's another test!!",
                                                   style: "background-color: red;",
                                                   height: "20%",
                                                   dock: "bottom"});

    A docked item should stay stretched.

    update takes either a String or a data object. If that component was configured to use a template (via the tpl config) then passing an object to the update method will apply the data to the template and use tthat for the HTML. If it gets a string, then it will just insert that string into the HTML.

    Looks like you are trying to add a docked panel in the update which is invalid.

    To clarify, if I just give it a string, it will blow away any formatting I had AND update the HTML?

    Looks like I need to set up my dockedItem with a template to retain my formatting AND update the text that is displayed in this dockedItem when I select a list item from my rightToolbar?
