Success! Looks like we've fixed this one. According to our records the fix was applied for EXTGWT-2115 in 3.0.1.

    Description
    PortalLayoutContainer.clear() does not only remove all portlets but all children which leads to a IndexOutOfBoundsException on calling add() after clear()

    Run mode
    both

    Steps to reproduce the problem
    1. Call clear() on a existing PortalLayoutContainer
    2. Add a new portlet to the layout container after clearing it

    Expected result
    All portlets are removed from the portal

    Actual result
    Everything is removed from the container
