Success! Looks like we've fixed this one. According to our records the fix was applied for TOUCH-2988 in a recent build.

    We saw very good improvements of the scroll performance on Android and iOS in beta 2.

    We also changed the scroller config to the following:

    Code:
            scrollable: !Ext.os.is('Android') || {
                direction: 'vertical',
                directionLock: true,
                momentumEasing:  {
                    momentum: {
                        acceleration: 30,
                        friction: 0.5
                    },
                    bounce: {
                        acceleration: 0.0001,
                        springTension: 0.9999
                    },
                    minVelocity: 5
                },
                outOfBoundRestrictFactor: 0
            }
    This config has been floating around in the forums.
    It basically disables the rubber band / bounce effect on Android, which doesn't feel very snappy on Android. In general it feels nicer on Android as Android apps usually don't have the rubber band effect anyway (maybe a minimal one on Android 4).

    Not sure where that config came from originally, but wonder if Sencha may even optimize it further simply through the config and/or set such config as default for Android.

    There is an update already on the main branch that will optimize the overscrolling on Android4. It should be part of beta3.

    For us neither beta 2 or your solution fixed it. About the wait for beta 3, are we looking at days ? weeks ? months ?

    Thanks

    @siebmanb What device are you using for testing?

    On an Asus 300 4.0.3 upgraded to the latest JB 4.1, I find scrolling as good as iOS.

    With a 4.0.3 device with low end specs, scrolling is "reasonable" (does have some lag).

    Our main testing device is a Nexus S on JB 4.1. We believe that it is way better that most of our users Android phones, which explains that we freak out when we see that scrolling is not good on this device .

    I would not say it is "reasonable" for us. Main concern is that when you try to scroll slowly, nothing moves until you stop your finger. Then the screen catches up with you. The only way to scroll is by fast swipe or by multiple small swipes. It is not really adapted for reading a text.

    Even though it may be possible to adapt yourself and actually get use to it, we do not really want users to change their habits. And we do not like it when we have to explain to the client that the new version of the framework we use, the one we said so many good things about, actually worsen the scrolling experience... and that we cannot really go back as the migration took us several weeks...

    About iOS, scrolling deteriorated as well with ST2, but it is reasonable.

    Any fix, even quick and dirty, will be greatly appreciated !

    We had a major breakthrough this morning. We realized the scrolling issue only appeared on components such as dataview or list. It means that when we use simple div and stuff them with data manually, scroll works fine...

    Quick and dirty fix would be to avoid dataviews and manually create views... Anyone else with the same conclusions ?

    I am sure that the Sencha Team is doing what they can to find a optimal solution for this.

    Yes I have no doubt they are working on it. Meanwhile, any fix is greatly appreciated even if it means rewriting part of our app

    That is pretty much what I created some months ago with https://github.com/mitchellsimoens/U...w.DataViewLite

    Wonder what the perf difference is between that and what we have cooking
