Store does update on insert

Just trying 4.1.1rc2 after 4.0.7, noticed that when I insert a record into a store (with ajax proxy) this is sent to my server-side as an UPDATE, not CREATE.

Is this intentional? Worked fine in 4.0.7.

Does the record have and id? is record.phantom true?
