Success! Looks like we've fixed this one. According to our records the fix was applied for EXTJS-6598 in a recent build.

    Default [4.1.1 rc2] Group Column "hidden: true" doesn't hide its child columns

    [4.1.1 rc2] Group Column "hidden: true" doesn't hide its child columns

    REQUIRED INFORMATION

    Ext version tested:
    • Ext 4.1.1 rc2
    Browser versions tested against:
    • Chrome 19
    • FireFox 13
    • IE9
    Description:
    • The group column "hidden: true" doesn't hide its child. So, the resulting grid looks inconsistent. Setting up "hidden: true" for child columns resolves the problem.
    Steps to reproduce the problem:
    • Just run the code sample.
    The result that was expected:
    • Just the Test1 and Test2 columns to be shown.
    The result that occurs instead:
    • The grid shows the data of the child columns which looks inconsistent. Please see the screen-shot.
    • A JavaScript "invalid argument" error occurs in IE9.
    Test Case:

    Code:
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
        <title>Group Columns Hidden Issue</title>

        <link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="../resources/css/ext-all.css" />

        <script type="text/javascript" src="../ext-all.js"></script>

        <script type="text/javascript">
            Ext.onReady(function () {
                Ext.create("Ext.grid.Panel", {
                    store: {
                        fields: [{
                            name: "test1"
                        }, {
                            name: "test2"
                        }, {
                            name: "test3"
                        }],
                        autoLoad: true,
                        proxy: {
                            type: 'memory',
                            reader: 'array',
                            data: [
                                ["test1", "test2", "test3"],
                                ["test4", "test5", "test6"],
                                ["test7", "test8", "test9"]
                            ]
                        }

                    },
                    id: "GridPanel1",
                    renderTo: Ext.getBody(),
                    columns: {
                        items: [{
                            hidden: true,
                            columns: [{
                                dataIndex: "test1",
                                text: "Test1"
                            }, {
                                dataIndex: "test2",
                                text: "Test2"
                            }, {
                                dataIndex: "test3",
                                text: "Test3"
                            }],
                            text: "Group"
                        }, {
                            dataIndex: "test1",
                            text: "Test1"
                        }, {
                            dataIndex: "test2",
                            text: "Test2"
                        }]
                    }
                });
            });
        </script>
    </head>
    <body>

    </body>
    </html>

    HELPFUL INFORMATION

    Screenshot:
    • How the grid looks.
    1.JPG

    I would expect just the Test1 and Test2 columns to be shown.

    Possible fix:
    • Setting up "hidden: true" for the child columns resolves the problem. But, I think, it should be done implicitly inside the framework.
