    Default Answered: Sliding panel with 'Ext.Animator.run' is jerky

    Answered: Sliding panel with 'Ext.Animator.run' is jerky

    Hello,

    I have a panel that is sliding from left to right. It's a navigation-type panel. It has a little tab on the side. Originally only this small tab is visible at the left side of the screen. When you tap it, the panel slides in to the right about 300px. When you tap the little tab again, the panel slides back to the left so that only the little tab remains visible.

    So.

    Originally I was using Ext.Anim.run to animate the panel like so:
    Code:
    Ext.Anim.run(parent.element, 'slide', {
        duration: 1000,
        from: {'left': -256},
        to: {'left': 0},
        direction: 'right',
        autoClear: false,
        out: true
    });
    This provides a smooth animated experience on the iPad3 and iTouch 4G. The problem with this, that Ext.Anim ignores the "from" and "to" values. Apparently this is a bug. I found a thread about this on stackoverflow (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9...sencha-touch-2)

    So in that thread it was suggested for the person to use Ext.Animator.run as opposed to Ext.Anim.run. So I've changed my code to:
    Code:
    Ext.Animator.run({
        element: parent.element,
        duration: 1000,
        from: {left: -256},
        to: {left: 0},
        preserveEndState: true,
        easing: 'ease-out'
    });
    This works well, and Ext.Animator.run takes into account the correct "from" and "to" values. The problem is, Ext.Animator.run provides quite jerky animation experience on the iPad3 and iTouch 4G. (On the desktop browser it ain't matter since that's a powerhouse and the animation will be ok either way - although you can notice a tiny bit of jerky movement compared to Ext.Anim.)

    Anyone have experience with these animators and what would be a workaround solution? I'd either like to find out why Ext.Anim ignores the "from" and "to" values OR why Ext.Animator is jerky and if there's some solution to this.

    Thank you!

  2. As I've found out from this thread, Ext.Anim's "from" and "to" params, when using left/top/right/bottom/size CSS values, don't work in Chrome (on Windows 7 Ultimate) that's why they weren't animating. I switched to Safari on Windows and they animate correctly there.
