Also, what would REALLY give you more clicking area - being able to click on the entire forum name as well as the add/remove button!
You don't have to make it LOOK like a link. I always hate it when designs limit users like this. Also, keep in mind mobile. The bigger you can make the target for finger pushes, the easier it is on the users. There's absolutely no downside to doing it this way.
I'm talking about the search options:
- Grow field on focus
- Reset paging on new search
- View Results as
Those should be accessible from the actual search. Right now you have an Options popup that doesn't have important search options on it. I understand that these are options for the search in general and not the specific search you're on. But I think that's where people would expect to find those options.

One way to make the search more useful and faster is the ability to select which forums you want to without opening up the Options and selecting which forums. Less mouse clicks and speed was behind this addition.
To do this, in the input where you type the search query, you can now type in a few mapped values which will start with #. Here are the current possibilities:
They will add all the child forums and also the premium forums if that has one. Like the #ext4, #ext3, #ext2 and #ext1 will add the premium help and feature request forums also.
If you wanted to search all versions of a product you also have these possibilities:
#ext
#st
#gxt
#architect
and they will search all the child forums for all the versions and also the premium forums. You can specify as many as you want so you can search something like:
'grid #st2 #ext4 #gxt2'
and It will include the forums for Sencha Touch 2, Ext JS 4 and GXT 3.
Also note, if you have any forums specified in the options, this will disregard that selection.
