[CLOSED] Accidentally downloaded 32 bit instead of 64bit
[CLOSED] Accidentally downloaded 32 bit instead of 64bit
Downloaded the latest SA 2.1 for Linux - it doesn't install. Here are the steps I took:
1. Download the installer
-rwxrwxr-x 1 rbraddy rbraddy 34964300 Aug 14 16:54 SenchaArchitect-2.1-linux.run
2. Chmod +x (see above)
3. ./SenchaArchitect-2.1-linux.run
Instead of running the install process, it just immediately returns and does nothing.
I have SA 2.0 installed on this CentOS 6.2 VM. Does it need to be uninstalled first?
Looking forward to trying 2.1 out.
Thanks
Rick

Hi Rick,
I'm installing CentOS 6.3 right now to try to recreate the issue. I would like to think 6.2 and 6.3 are similar enough. 6.2 ISOs are not available on the CentOS public mirrors, at least not that I could find.
Some additional questions:- What desktop manager do you run? (Gnome, KDE, etc.)
- Have you done a complete system update from the vanilla CentOS 6.2 installation? This will help us in recreating the environment.
Thanks!

Hi Rick,
A vanilla CentOS 6.3 32-bit installation had no issues installing Architect 2.1. Are you running 32-bit or 64-bit CentOS? I assume you downloaded the correct Architect installer for your system's bitness...
Hoping to hear back from you soon with some answers to those questions above and any other detail you're able to provide. We'll do our best to recreate the issue on our end.
Thanks!

Are you running 32-bit or 64-bit CentOS? 64-bit CentOS 6.2
Some additional questions:- What desktop manager do you run? (Gnome, KDE, etc.) Default Gnome
- Have you done a complete system update from the vanilla CentOS 6.2 installation? This will help us in recreating the environment. I'm running a development environment with lots of yum package installations. Architect 2.0 installed and runs great.
Looks like I have the 64-bit installer:
SenchaArchitect-2.0.0.000442-x64.run
[root]# uname -a
Linux hostname 2.6.32-220.17.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Wed May 16 00:01:37 BST 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Figure it out. I had clicked on the "recommended download" button, which turns out was incorrect (it was 32-bit). I manually selected the 64-bit download and now it's installing.
Thanks for the assist. Not sure if you can detect the bitness in the browser and offer the right download to help others avoid this in the future or not...
Thanks again.

Hi Rick,
Glad to hear you figured out the issue. I'm going to check with our sencha.com team and make sure our download page is detecting 32 vs 64 for Linux's "recommended download" feature; it worked in the past
Thanks,
Jarred
