[Sencha Cmd 3.0.0.122 / 3.0.0.141] Native apps fail on iOS 6 (run well on iOS 5)
[Sencha Cmd 3.0.0.122 / 3.0.0.141] Native apps fail on iOS 6 (run well on iOS 5)
Ext version tested:
- Sencha Touch 2.1.0 beta 3
- Sencha Cmd 3.0.0.122 and 3.0.0.141 (versions for Windows)
- Mobile Safari (on iOS 5.1.1, then on iOS 6.0)
- Native apps built with Sencha Cmd 3.0.0.122 or 3.0.0.141 just fail when starting them on iOS 6 (and they run well on iOS 5)
- Create a new app folder with sencha generate app. Go inside that folder.
- Edit packager.json to include actual applicationName, applicationId, bundleSeedId, and certificatePath for the iOS app and developer's credentials and certificate. Set platform to "iOS".
- Build a native app with sencha app build native
- Install the new application on iPhone
- Start the application on iPhone
- The application starts successfully both on iOS 5 and on iOS 6
- The application starts fine, as expected, on iOS 5
- The application almost immediately fails when starting on iOS 6

Is the updated version with this fix already available for download? Or when will it be available?
Thank you.

I've tried downloading the nightly build of 2012-09-26, but it does not work in that build

If I understood correctly, they say will be available in 2.1.0-rc1 release. The latest available for download is still rb1.

Thanks for trying it and letting us know the result, Sven. BTW, have you tried just a recent nightly build of Sencha Touch 2 itself? or some updated (unreleased) version of Sencha Cmd v3 as well?
Though the status from Sencha indicates the issue is fixed in RC1, my understanding is that the issue is with Sencha Cmd, which needs to be fixed. And I assume that Sencha is planning to release an updated version of Sencha Cmd together with RC1 of Sencha Touch 2.

[Sencha Cmd 3.0.0.181] No improvement yet
[Sencha Cmd 3.0.0.181] No improvement yet
I have just tried Sencha Cmd 3.0.0.181, which was given to the public recently. Alas, it's not resolving the issue. Hopefully we'll see another update soon, with the fix available in it.

ANY workaround for this one?
ANY workaround for this one?
Hi Sencha
Since 20 Sep, for the past two weeks, I have been checking back several times every day to see if a resolution to this has been found. I was initially excited to see "According to our records the fix was applied for TOUCH-3494 in Sprint 25 (2.1.0-rc1)." but as yet there is no news about when or where we can get this fix.
As it stands, my app runs on iOS 5.1 but immediately fails on launch on iOS6. This is a terrible deal-breaker and I cannot move forward in any way. I am slightly worried that nobody else is shouting about this - I would imagine that if Sencha apps couldn't run on iOS 6 then everyone would be in the same boat as me... so I must ask, is it just me? Anybody else stuck on this one?
If anybody has ANY clues, ideas or tips to get around this, please do share.
Thanks
Rgds
Zac

Still no solution!
Still no solution!
Hi Zac -- I am with you.
I am disappointed that no solution has been still provided. We are at the point of looking at rewriting the application. The app still works on iOS 5 and Android devices.
Success! Looks like we've fixed this one. According to our records the fix was applied for
TOUCH-3494
in
Sprint 26.
