We'd like to treat the app from Designer as a base class, and then extend it to add in things like routing and such that we prefer to maintain from our usual editors, not as 'overrides' in the Designer. Is there an option to Designer to ask it to spit out the app as an Ext.Define that we we can extend in our own call to Ext.application?

No. There is no way to currently subclass Ext.Application within Architect.

It's a good idea and we can explore doing that in the future.
