The categories are kind of vague. There's certainly room for innovation, but I don't see how much one can push the envelope with, say, a weather app, other than making a great UX.
Is that enough for consideration in the contest? Show the great UX that's possible with HTML5? Or am I going to be rejected if I just make a weather app?
Maybe the page is intentionally light on details. Just wondering...
You can be as simple or as complicated as you want. Our goal isn't to drive people to create some elaborate app, just to see people showcase what HTML5 can really do, implementation is up to you.
I did read the rules before posting and I didn't see anything about that either. Something about the wording made me feel like it should be a web app which led to my confusion.
I would like to report unanswered questions asked by Deep Shah in this blog post:
If the application is on google play store then is it eligible for the contest?
Can we submit the application to google play store or apple store later on?
Can one member submit more than one applications?
Is it necessary to develop application in only that six categories? Can we create application for any other category? Will application be eligible for contest if it is not one of the six categories specified on the website page of contest?
If API is require then, can we develop that in any technology?
Can we submit application by sending zip file instead of uploading it on web?
Build of the mobile application should be created using: a. Sencha Packager, b. PhoneGap or c. No need to create build.
In my case, I want to know if apps existing before the contest (and which received lot of development iterations, improvements and testing) can be submitted? I don't have a "ready-made" HTML5 app to submit, I will have to create one from scratch - but I'm not sure to be able to compete with an app designed and developed in about 1 month.
