    It just doesn't make sense from my point of view to have to do a search an replace for MyApp whenever we want to re-use some classes which contain something like MyApp.some.method(). It would be much better to be able to just use this.getApplication.some.method() or something similar everywhere.
    Otherwise, all our projects need to be called MyApp in order to save some time.

    Do you mean as-is or do we have to replace what's in the brackets with the name of our app (which is what I'm trying to avoid).

    The Ext.app.Application instance is cached as the app property on your app name. So if you app name is 'MyApp' then you can get the application via MyApp.app. If your in a controller I believe the application can be accessed via the application property (controller.application)

    Again, the point of this request is to ask for a way to have access to the "app" object without having to use the very specific app name which changes from app to app unless I've missed something.

    I'm guessing we could use a new global variable which would hold a reference to this.application. Something like shown in this post:
    Code:
    var globalApp;Ext.application({
        launch: function() {
        	globalApp = this;
    	...
        }
    });

    If you use a controller, you can use this.getApplication() to get the application.

    If you're looking for modular code that can apply across multiple projects (certainly sounds like it) using controllers is a sensible idea IMO.
