Installing problem with Architect 2.2

Hi,

I installed Architect 2.2 from Sencha's homepage. Got the setup exe-file and
executed it. After that my Architect doesn't start anymore. No pop up window,
no nothing.

My operating system is Windows 7. I have tried three times to install by first
downloading and installing. I have then after the first install uninstalled and
deleted all files. I also tried to just delete the last ion-file, but that didn't help
either.

Anyone else having similar problems with installing Sencha Architect 2.2 ?

Sorry to hear about this. Architect 2.1 and 2.2 are able to live side by side if you install them in different directories.

Windows 7 is heavily tested. Is there anything unique about your environment that might tip us off to the problem?

Hi Aron,

Thank you for your response and for your help with the links. I don't really have
much help to offer. I uninstalled Sencha Architect and reinstalled the previous
version. I first succeeded to get the version 2.1 to work. After trying to reinstall
2.2 over 2.1 (without success) and then again installed 2.1 (after uninstalling 2.2)
I now have a situation where neither 2.1 nor 2.2 opens.

I can see
Sencha Architect.exe *32
in Task Manager, so something happens, but no window opens.

I really don't know what I might have in my computer.
I am using Avast! (free version) for virus protection. There must
be others using it also, I suppose.

As 2.1 worked earlier the problem probably is something in my end.

I will try test with something, whatever comes to my mind. If I
solve this I will tell you.

Could you let me know what is in both the Sencha Architect 2.1 and Sencha Architect 2.2 folders according to the below paths?


Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Sencha\Sencha Architect 2.2\

Windows Vista/7
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Sencha\Sencha Architect 2.2\

Linux
~/.local/share/data/Sencha/Sencha Architect 2.2/

Hi Aaron,

Thank you again for your patience. The problem might lie in
this. My name is Björn and when I was able to use Architect
I had to change the thread to the files inside the application.
I used something like BJRN~1 instead of Björn to get
the uploading to work.

Here is the physical path in my Windows 7 directories now:
C:\Users\Björn\AppData\Local\Sencha\Sencha Architect 2.2

I also added (Sencha Architect 2.1) so there is also a
C:\Users\Björn\AppData\Local\Sencha\Sencha Architect 2.1

The application still doesn't open. Do you think these none-
base (none english) letters are the reason why the app doesn't
open?

and
C:\Users\Björn\AppData\Local\Sencha\Sencha Architect 2.2
are empty.

Hi again,

Under the thread
C:\Users\Björn\AppData\Local
I have the directory
Sencha
but I had also a directory
Sencha, Inc
This included earlier versions Sencha Designer, 1.2 2.0
and up to Architect 2.0. When I commented out the latter
directory I was able to install Architect 2.1 and then
Architect 2.2.

After I commented it out it created a new Sencha, Inc
directory with a Sencha Architect 2.0 directory.

Everything seems to work now. Thank you.
The name Björn doesn't seem to be a problem after all.

Hi Björn,

To clarify, are you saying that Architect 2.2 now runs okay, or you restored Architect 2.1 and still have the initial issue with running Architect 2.2?

Can you do something for me? Open up cmd.exe and launch Sencha Architect 2.2 from the command line, and redirect stdout to a file, like so:

> "Sencha Architect.exe" > %HOMEPATH%\Desktop\stdout.txt

If you can paste the contents of that file, that might prove helpful in determining an issue.

Yes, also Sencha Architect 2.2 now seems to work ok. Sorry for not being clear on this.

I ran from Command Prompt:
"Sencha Architect.exe" > C:\Users\Björn\Desktop\stdout.txt,
which started Architect and created the stdout.txt file
including this text:

Loading Architect package "C:/Users/Björn/AppData/Local/Sencha/Sencha Architect 2.2/xds-2.2.0.000894.ion"
