    Default Answered: Integrating with Cordova

    Answered: Integrating with Cordova

    Hi, I'm a new bye.
I'm a bit confused about sencha touch integration with cordova (I generally use sencha architect)

On the internet I read sometimes article referring at adding secha touch to a cordova project with eclipse (more or less

Somewhere else I read you just need to include the cordova.js file from the index.html file in sencha touch?

    !??

I'd really appreciate the second approach because I'd like to continue developping with the Architect and access the cordova js api?
Is that possible? Has someone a practical example?
    Thanks in advance, Andrea.

  2. Yes, you just need to include the cordova.js file (for the appropriate platform) in the "js" section of your app.json. You don't need to do anything with the "deviceready" event either; Sencha Touch handles this for you.

    Default so..

    so..

so really no need to create an eclipse project and integrate sencha touch in that?
I really appreciate to do all the modifications in sencha architect if possible.

    Thanks a lot.

If I include the cordova-2.7.0.js file with my Sencha Touch 2.2.1 project, by adding the path to the js segment of the app.json file, I can't get past the loading screen... I don't see any specific errors, just nothing more than the 3 dots loading screen. This happened with Cordova-2.6.0.js and Sencha Touch 2.2.0.... Raised a ticked with Sencha but they were unable to resolve it. Going to see what happens with a basic out of the box project and see if that works, if it does then I'd love to know what it is in our project that prevents the integration from working!!

It's a bit of a joke all this, I'm having the same issue and have been raising it with Sencha support but no-one appears able to resolve this. I'm pretty fed up with the whole thing and wished we'd gone jQuery Mobile now... Sencha Touch seems like a great package but problems like this occur, they're raised all over the internet and yet nothing seems to be said or done about it...

I've heard there are fixes such as using Touch 2.0 instead of 2.1 or above but I really don't want to roll back... I don't know if it's something Sencha Cmd does to the code when building or if it's in the actual framework, but it's unimpressive that it's a major issue and yet nothing appears to be said about it by Sencha. I don't necessarily want to use their native build with Ext.device etc, and would rather run the app in a Cordova Xcode build but this appears to be a limiting factor.

Come on Sencha, please at least can we look into this, there are so many people having an issue with this, but there's no clear direction on how to resolve it... I know PhoneGap isn't up to you to support, but it's such a popular integration that surely it's worth looking into the issue?

Seeing only 3 dots means that Sencha failed to load all of the included JS files or its dependencies.
If you are using Google chrome, you may enable the javascript console to see the logs on which library
    did Sencha failed to load.

    Hope this helps!

    Regards.

If you start with Architect, stick with Architect...

I prefer to hand code everything and this is how it's done:
*note: replace anything inside < & > below with your own stuff...

    1. Create the app using Sencha CMD:
    Code:
sencha -sdk <path to touch sdk> generate app -name <AppName> -path ./<AppName>
    2. Modify the Sencha app code (by HAND, don't use Architect at this point!)

    3. Once you've got it all worked out like you want it (test in Chrome, iOS Simulator) using localhost, then:

    4. Run this within the app folder:
    Code:
    sencha cordova init <com.mydomain.appname> <AppName>
    5. Run this within the app folder, too:
    Code:
    sencha app build native
    6. Open up the Xcode project under /<appname>/cordova/platforms/<ios>

    7. Run it!
