flexibility of Portal - Portlet

The flexibility of what you can do with Portal-Portlet is not very advanced. Good things to be included would be:
- restrictions over where things go (I want to pin a portlet down, so that it doesn't move and doesn't get moved by the others)
- I want to restrict the movement (and reshuffling) of a portlet to only a column or a row (so that a portlet can be moved inside it's row, but not outside)
- perhaps programatic access to each cell (I be able to move a portlet to cell (2,1) for example not by actually dragging it, but rather by programatic access)

- these things could be done by defining many portals with only one column, but this is not very elegant and also not very practical in terms of performance
Any thoughts on this?

Is no one using the new Portal and portlet code. Such a great thing and plagued by bugs and limitations.

I am using and i find these requests absolutely necessary.
