How to invoke Beep sound in Extjs
How to invoke Beep sound in Extjs
Hi,
I had a requirement where i need to give a long beep sound or play a wav/mp3 file etc.
Is this kind of functionality supported in ExtJS? If not what is the alternate way to implement this in ExtJS.
Any examples will be helpful.
Thanks,
Venu

Remind me of the URL of your site so I can avoid it!
Search the forum: http://www.google.com/coop/cse?cx=01...%3Az7of1ufqccu
Read the docs too: http://extjs.com/deploy/dev/docs/

I tried with that code modifying it for Firefox but still working for IE but not in FF.

Just my 2 cents...
While websites with sound do suck, there is a definite requirement for 'notification' sounds in a web application. Similar to how Google Android has a notification bar and the associated sound.
Just ask yourself, what is more disruptive to your workflow, an alert box, or a small beep in the background? Personally, i would choose the beep.

Hilarious

I think it's funny how myopic (and seemingly cranky) some people on these boards are. Playing sound can be very useful - can you say, VISUAL VOICEMAIL?!?
Don't measure excellence against others, but rather against the best implementation of yourself.

Here is a js lib for playing sounds / mp3s / etc . We used the first version, and it worked well.
http://www.schillmania.com/projects/soundmanager2/
If you can't get the version 2 to work, look for the version 1.
hope this helps

Wow, you are really trying bind new extjs users to your product, not! I see you are a bit contemptuously overall on your answers on the forum.Although i dislike such people, i really love Extjs so i will live with it and i will never say anything about it again now i got my mind cleared.
PS. He might want to play a beep sound when his users got a new message in the inbox, just like Gmail, you are also avoiding such websites?
