    Default ExtJs 4 and DirectJNgine

    ExtJs 4 and DirectJNgine

    Hi everybody,

As many of you probably know I'm DJN creator. You'll have noticed that I have very little availability nowadays, but I am going to take a look at the issues with ExtJs 4 and DJN.

I expected somewhat too optimistically that ExtJs 4 would not add code breaking changes to ExtJs 3 that would affect DJN, but that's simply not the case. For example, I have found several changes that break some tests, such as DirectStore not supporting baseParams anymore

Of course, this means there might be other problems lurking: I'll report my findings asap.

Let's hope this can be fixed easily, as I would love the community to continue benefiting from DJN

And, of course, if somebody else has checked and fixed this, I'm sure the whole community will be very grateful if he moves forward and contributes his findings

    Best regards,

Please, try using the technique used to support Google AppEngine, as explained in the User's Guide, as that technique does not create a physical file in the server.
    thanks for reply

I found the problem: i miss the "createSourceFile" param in web.xml,it works on Tomcat6.0,but can't pass weblogic10.3.3

Default ExtJs 4 changes affecting DirectJNgine

    ExtJs 4 changes affecting DirectJNgine

After spending several hours with DJN and ExtJs 4, it seems the number of code breaking changes in moving from ExtJs 3 to ExtJs 4 is small.

Most problems were due to changes in two areas: DirectStore and form handling, and they were highlighted immediately by several automated tests. That's why I love Test Driven Development

I hope to publish an alpha in a few days, to help pinpoint other issues that the existing automated tests can't reveal.

Easiest way to handle this is to create simple class that can work with @DirectAction and then simply redirect the call to whatever method you need to call.

Not sure what you are talking about...Anyway, if what is happening is that you can't find the HttpSession class at compile time, this is not a DJN related issue. HttpSession is one of the standard servlet classes that belongs in a separated jar. Find it and add it to your compilation classpath.

    Hello
    I've seen why i couldn't use the @Direct annotation ....i was tired when working i think :-(.

    Concerning the HttpSession or httXXX
It's because i'm storing Cookies with extJS and i don't know how to retrieve them (from the cache or anything..) in my directWebService -the @DirectAction +@DirectMethod-.
I've never done it in JAVA with EXTJS+Direct. I have no idea on how to work with in JAVA+Direct with Extjs. So i migth need to see a short example or have any advise if there are thing that i must know before doing that.

Spec: i'm using Hibernate that's dealing with Session-i'm learning it too- ..i don't know if this help !

By the way: your implementation of Direct is simply magic i'm trying to use it in my school project.

To get access to things such as the current session, request, response, etc. from your methods use the WebContextManager class: see chapter 11 of DJN 1.3 documentation for details.

@pagullo: Do you make progress in publishing an alpha version for ExtJS4?
