I'm so glad I changed hosts

This new host is even worse than the old one. This host was the #1 rated low budget host on multiple sites, yet I have never been able to get in contact with support and the site is down every other day for brief periods. I bought 2 years, but I may not be here longer than 2 months. It was down for over 6 hours today. 5 minutes every other day is bad, 6 hours = time for a new host.

If anyone out there knows of a reliable and affordable host that supports PHP and MySQL, please let me know. Also, if anyone wants to provide hosting, that works too.

I did manage to get someone on the phone and apparently there is a big power outage in the city (Santa Monica) where the provider is.

I have dedicated server from ServerPronto. Their dedicated server plan start with 30$ per month! for linux based servers.
Despite some negative comments I saw in web about them I did'nt have any problem for 2 years.

So far I've been pretty happy with midphase who offers a decent amount of storage.

I've also have had good luck with phpwebhositng.com, while they don't have a ton of space offered, they're priced very competitvely.

With both, I've had nothing but good experiences with their support.

I use HostMySite.com. Stupid name, but excellent customer service. I've never had to wait longer than a minute to talk to a real person. AND they have backup generators incase of power outages.

Dreamhost looks really good. I really like the PHP5, subversion support and shell access. When I upgrade I will definitely check them out.

hosted in a clustered environment.

in 18 months i've had zero downtime, and the one time I got a support email from them saying their lines were damaged I was still able to get very fast access to my website.

And very inexpensive - £5.25 + VAT (I think) a month (about $10 US), paid quarterly.

They allow you to earn extra storage / bandwidth for referring new customers, but I can't use all the space I've got now, so I no longer bother to put the referral code in the link.

It seems like the past 2 days the site has been extremely slow. Today, definitely, its crawling.

I use textdrive.com. These guys are really nice people and the service is top notch. However, the control panel sucks and the speed of lower priced plans could be better. (though its good compared to my previous host: cqhost.com)
