View Full Version : [SOLVED] Accordion Layout height not expanding

22 Jun 2010, 4:46 PM
Hi, i've been having a hard time trying to get this work.
In my app, I have a border layout (let's call this one N, for nested), nested inside the center region of another border layout (and this one will be M, for main).
If I put an Accordion layout inside N's center region, this accordion layout will not expand its height to fill all the avaliable space. Width works fine, but not height.
Any idea why?

Here is some code showing the problem:

I did try some doLayout(); to force the containers layout to be recalculated. But it doesnt work.
Perhaps it's _how_/_where_ I do it.
Any ideas?
Thanks for your time in advance.

Still haven't found a solution for this one.

your inner center CONTAINS an accordion layout Panel instead of BEING an accordion layout Panel.

Wow, great!!!
Thank you, very very much!

Just for curiosity...
What if the Accordion Layout is added after the Border Layout is rendered? (programmatically, based on an event/action)

Extracted from de API docs (Panel's add() method):

Warning: Containers directly managed by the BorderLayout layout manager may not be removed or added. See the Notes for BorderLayout for more details.

And (from the BorderLayout's notes):

The regions of a BorderLayout are fixed at render time and thereafter, its child Components may not be removed or added. To add/remove Components within a BorderLayout, have them wrapped by an additional Container which is directly managed by the BorderLayout. If the region is to be collapsible, the Container used directly by the BorderLayout manager should be a Panel. In the following example a Container (an Ext.Panel) is added to the west region:

So... the problem is:
If I add it directly to the BorderLayout's center region (after removing the previous component) it isn't shown at all (Overnest, as Animal said).
And if I add it to a wrapper container (a panel), the accordion's height doesn't expands.

What could be a possible solution?
Maybe write some on('resize', ...) code?

If you have to add after render then you will need another layer of nesting.

The center will be xtype:'container', layout: 'fit'.

And you will add the layout:'accordion' to THAT.

The layout is the key. Read about them in the docs.

Layouts size and position child items. You just have to choose the right one.

Again, thank you very much for the response.
Specially for such a quick one.
Haven't had the time to test it out until now, it worked perfectly!
Thank you!
