Hello everybody,

I've recently upgraded an ext2 app to ext3 and well, it felt the app went, mmm slower.

So I did a quick profiling in firebug and to my surprised, it looked like the numbers had roughly doubled, kinda everywhere in the framework. I was a bit confused, and today I did the same exercise with some ext examples.

It's surely nothing scientific, but am I wrong or the performence of the framework had drasticly decreased ?

3.2.1: 652.17ms, 10853 calls
2.3.0: 246.58ms, 6233 calls

3.2.1: 778.54ms, 31136 calls
2.3.0: 440.94ms, 16775 calls
3.2.1: 1361.38ms, 49745 calls
2.3.0: 822.34ms, 27534 calls

3.2.1: 1913.05ms, 56388 calls
2.3.0: 1053.35ms, 26945 calls

3.2.1: 497.99, 15878 calls
2.3.0: 364.27, 10701 calls

Unfortunately, the changes to the layout system sometimes made Ext applications a lot slower.

Performance is a big concern for the developers and there have already been several changes since Ext 3.0.0 to speed things up.

For Ext 4 a complete overhaul of the layout system is planned to again make it as fast or faster than Ext 2.

+1 to this - we are stuck with v2.3 and cannot upgrade until the performance is at least on par with what our user's currently get.

I thought v3.1.1 (http://www.sencha.com/forum/showthread.php?90334-Speed-of-3.1-apps-slower-than-2.2) was supposed to address the performance issues? And all the work done by @Meroy?

Some more numbers:
portal demo
3.2.1: 302.521, 13687 calls
2.3.0: 218.939, 7783 calls

does v2.3 contains bugs that where fixed in v3.x ?
in other words, when a major version stops to be supported ?
