View Full Version : Animations not working on Android

18 Sep 2010, 2:55 AM

I'm trying to find the time to have a proper play with the Touch framework and am very impressed with it so far, however i was playing with the Kitchen Sink examples on my HTC Desire (Android v2.2, WebKit 3.1) and none of the animation examples worked. There is a noticable flicker as if the animations are running very quickly and so aren't decipherable. The carousel examples animate perfectly however.

Has anyone else come across this?

I came across this tonight as well when testing on the new Galaxy Tab and wondered if it was some problem on that device. After doing some searching I noticed the release notes for Sencha Touch 0.94 (http://www.sencha.com/forum/showthread.php?102973-Sencha-Touch-Releases-amp-Notes-(0.95)&highlight=android+animations) say:

Disabled Animations on Android for a better user experience.

But I haven't been able to find anything stating why this is the case, and the forums don't have anything. Anyone know why and whether there is a plan to bring them back?

Thanks Simonsez I hadn't noticed that. At least I know it's intentional now!
