View Full Version : Automatic form generation from custom data structure

I have a question for the ExtJS community. I have a need to create auto generated forms based on custom data structures. I have a gigantic database full of research data. There are all sorts of data types (strings, floats, integers, etc.), but the main thing is I want to wrap chucks of data inside an auto generated form. The "configuration" of the UI components (grids, textfields, textareas, radio buttons, etc) will be created dynamically based on the chunk of data (formatted in JSON). It's a rather large task, but I wanted to know if anyone out there has already build such a form generator? If so, would you share your thoughts on it?

My goal is to build an Ext object that will read a JSON data block, and generate a form to display that data. I know this sounds very generic, but that's the idea to create a form generator that displays data with limited knowledge of the data.

Any ideas, suggestions, and/or comments are welcome.

Thanks-

There already is a dynamic form extension in the User Extensions forum that you could try.
