View Full Version : floating list in extjs

Hi,

is anyone here aware of any floating list plugin?

I want to build a 2-tier drop down list for the extjs ComboBox. If the user clicks an item in the parent list, a child list will show up on the right hand side of the clicked item, just like a 2-tier menu.

has anyone done anything like this before? what may be the best way to achieve this? I am thinking of building a floating list, so that the second tier sublist will be triggered if the user clicks the item in the parent list.

thanks in advance for any help!

This sounds like you should actually use a Menu.

Create your own TriggerField subclass which shows a Menu aligned "tl-bl" onTriggerClick

Or possibly a TreeCombo. There is an example posted somewhere.

Thx.

I found the tree example, but it did not seem to offer what I want.

I probably need to figure out how to replace the default comboBox dropdown list with multi level menus so that the type ahead search results could be displayed on the menus.

You would have to create a subclass of TriggerField.

Its onTriggerClick method would display the Menu.

Menus are easily created and displayed - that's all well documented.
