View Full Version : Blank page show up after setting up Ext GWT first time

23 Dec 2010, 12:19 PM
Hi, I am trying to test Ext GWT and followed the instruction in the setup.txt and on the faq page, but I keep on getting blank webpage when I load it on firefox. I wonder if there is setup error on my part?

I am using Eclipse 3.6, GWT 2.04 and Ext GWT 2.1.1.

I created a new web application project in eclipse, edit according to the instruction here: http://www.sencha.com/learn/Ext_GWT_FAQ#How_to_get_started.3F , got rid of all the extra thing that I don't need in the .html and when i try to debug as a GWT application, all I have is a blank page.

Any help is appreciated!

You can please post your index.html file, or module gwt file and your entrypoint class?

Here are my index.html, .java and .gwt.xml files:

<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=UTF-8">
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="resources/css/gxt-all.css" />
<script type="text/javascript" language='javascript' src='resources/flash/swfobject.js'></script>

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<module rename-to='test'>
<inherits name='com.goggle.gwt.user.User'/>
<inherits name='com.extjs.gwt.ui.GXT'/>
<inherits name='com.goggle.gwt.user.theme.standard.Standard'/>
<entry-point class='com.abc.test.client.Test'/>
<source path='client'/>
<source path='shared'/>

package com.abc.test.client;
import com.extjs.gxt.ui.client.widget.ContentPanel;
import com.extjs.gxt.ui.client.widget.button.Button;
import com.google.gwt.core.client.EntryPoint;
import com.google.gwt.user.client.ui.RootPanel;

public class Test implements EntryPoint {
public void onModuleLoad(){
ContentPanel cp = new ContentPanel();
cp.addButton(new Button("click"));

Thank you for any help you can offer!

You never load the javascript file for your project.

<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="test/test.nocache.js"></script>

I added the javascript file to the test.html for the project, but the page is still blank when I try to debug it as a GWT project. Would there some setting I didn't get it correctly?

Here is the html output from firefox:
<iframe id="test" src="javascript: ' ' " style="position: absolute; width: 0pt; height: 0pt; border: medium none;" tabindex="-1">

Thanks for your help!

it has been almost a year, and I sort of remember the problem was I was using an older version of JRE. You may want to update the JRE and see if it is causing the same problem for you.

I am using latest version of jre for mac and windows both and getting same behavior. It worked once for me but after that its not working.

I don't get any error in eclipse. I installed firebug and there isn't any error on java script which i can find in firebug. Can someone please help me? Its really frustrating that after reading and following all steps to setup hello world sample application getting this blank page on browser without any error.
