I don't know if it's just me, but none of the official examples work for me in IE 8 - fails with an 'Object doesn't support this property or method...'. In Firefox 3.6.13 they work for me but I get debug messages on the console.

Unexpected value undefined parsing width attribute.
Unexpected value undefined parsing height attribute.

Any more details on this, which example you were trying?

All chart examples from the demos page fail for me in IE8, including the one in the new desktop demo. For example,

http://dev.sencha.com/deploy/ext-4.0-pr1/examples/charts/Area.html

In IE8, the page loads and I can see the window, but there is no chart. The window cannot be moved or resized. There is also a JavaScript error. Lines 40918 and 5483, if it helps. In FF, the chart eventually loads but only after I click through the aforementioned errors in firebug.

I'm not able to duplicate this problem. I have tried in IEs and FF and both seem to work. Any other details on the JS error you are getting?

IE8 and FF started working for me at some point late yesterday. I'm reasonably sure the initial problem wasn't on my end - tried with different machines and clean cache - I just figured somebody fixed the Ext 4 code. In any case, the chart examples are working for me now.

Interesting, possibly a cache issue on the server or something since the code won't be changed until the next release.

I have the same problem, ExtJs 4 examples doesn't work for me in IE 8... Even worst: i made some reports and grids, using ExtJs 4 pre-realese 5, then i get this error on IE 8 when i placed a Pie Chart:

I've already tested on Firefox and Chrome and it works perfect.

Another strange thing is: if i'm using IE, so why message console says: User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 ?

I really hate IE, i know develop or debug in IE became a pain in the a. however, i need to get this working on, and i don't wanna go back to use Ext js 3 SWF charts... so please help me, I'll be very grateful.

This error occured when i created a window without specifying a layout manager i.e.

w = Ext.create('Ext.Window', {
height: 300,
items: [d],
//layout: 'fit', - without this the error occurs

width: 300
});
