Hey,

Is there already a way to use metaData configuration through JSON, so I can build my grids from that ? Using the metaData seems to work with charts, but not yet with grids.

And if so, are there any examples that show how my metaData object should look ??

I dont think so, at least up to now.
Look here: http://www.sencha.com/forum/showthread.php?125676-dynamic-grid-onDataChange
But i hope the Ext-Team comments on this.

it's a "must-have" feature. I now have single customized grid component, where I only provide URL with grid configuration. It's extremely useful

The feature is crucial for me as well. Without it I wouldn't be able to go over to Ext JS 4.

+1 support, our existing ExtJS 3 apps rely heavily on this feature

This is a requirement for us migrating our Ext JS 3 App to Ext JS 4

I replied in another thread before I found this one. Our application is also built around metaData configuration of a JsonReader; lack of that feature in 4.x is a showstopper.

Sencha has replied in that other thread, btw: http://www.sencha.com/forum/showthread.php?133033-Can-Sencha-Respond-Metadata-Configuration-Support&p=602709&viewfull=1#post602709
