Hi,

I've been working with Ext JS for just a couple of weeks. To get up to speed, I'm looking at code samples, checking the API, reading, and of course developing my own code - mostly by trying to adapt sample code to my own needs.

What's the difference between a ViewPort and a Window which seem similar to me. Why would I use one over the other? Can either of them be used to contain a layout?

On the API Documentation, I see various types of icons - such as three small boxes (a tree?), yellow boxes,
blue puzzle pieces. Any idea what they signify?

Thanks.

A viewport automatically extends to the size of your browser screen, and you can only have 1 viewport in a page.

A window is a container that appears ontop of others, with the possibility to drag, minimize/maximize, close/hide.

Any container can have a layout.

Regarding the icons, check the first tab in the documentation -> on the left side there's a section with a legend describing what each color means.

Thanks for your reply and for pointing out the legend!
