View Full Version : combobox problem

When I include this statement

var comboCountry = new Ext.form.ComboBox();

and reload the application, all I can see is a blank screen. If I remove this statement, my app loads fine. What might be the problem.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't see an error in the Dev Tools console, but it looks like you are using Ext JS naming rather than Touch naming. I think you are looking for Ext.form.Select.

I'm not quite sure why it is named Select when it is ComboBox in both Ext JS 3&4.

disclaimer: I am looking at the docs at http://dev.sencha.com/deploy/touch/docs/ . It might have been called ComboBox in earlier versions of Touch.

Well, thanks for reply, but I am still getting the same thing. I tried several different code samples but no luck. App crashes when I include the line to create a combobox. App runs fine when I remove that line.

var combo = new Ext.form.ComboBox();

What happens if you replace that line with :

var combo = new Ext.form.Select({
options: [
{text: 'First Option', value: 'first'},
{text: 'Second Option', value: 'second'},
{text: 'Third Option', value: 'third'}

thats a select box...I specifically need a combo box...Once I have Combo box I can implement autocomplete on it. Select box does not allow dynamic options...neither does it allow typing anything in it like a text field

i am sure there is no Sencha solution to it...Is there any Ext JS solution to it.

Yeah, there's definitely a ComboBox in Sencha Ext JS. There isn't one in Sencha Touch.

But the decision to use one or the other depends more on your target platform than the components you want to use. Sencha Touch is for mobile devices, Sencha Ext JS is for browser based applications. You may be able to get an Ext JS application to work on your mobile phone, but it would be very heavy.
