Hey Guys

Here is one of the apps we are working on at the moment that is nearly ready for release.

Yggrasil is Norways largest UX and Design conference and my company WhiteFox has the honor of making an app for this years conference.

This is pretty scary as guys like Josh Clark will be there to tell everybody how much it sucks... fingers crossed.

Note: The rating backend is not hooked up yet.

You can check it out at: http://www.whitefox.no/projects/yggdrasil

Wow, that's an impressive app! :)

Will you release the uncompressed source? It would be a good help for beginners like me.

Me too like overall themeing. You rockz........

How that star sheet works ?:-? .

I'm not sure what that title means ;)

The starsheet is for rating a sessions "content" and "presentation". The organizers like to assess what topics and presenters people like best.

As for how it works... It's just a modified titled spinner. The stars are achieved by using CSS to style the HTML content of each spinner value. The starbutton is achieved with a plugin.

I can release the starspinner if people want it. It's fully customizable (min/max values, numbers of categories etc etc.

Thanks guys for the positive feed back... I am starting to get nervous now and find myself second guessing everything. The last thing I want is for the worlds most respected mobile app designers to trash our app the entire conference. Fingers crossed!

Any chance you can release the source code for this ?

This is one of our companies products so I cant really pass it out to everybody in its entirety. I will most likely be posting the star rating picker as a control as soon as things slow down at work and I get some time.

Great work, Simon! I like the custom design and the innovative rating widget.

Also, it's next week now. Is the app approved yet?

Its up on Market... Just waiting for Apple as usual... Sill in "Waiting for Review".

We have also just built an iPad version using Xcode/PhoneGap. (We have used PhoneGap Build for the phone versions)

Your apps look sick!

I'm looking to create a app really similar to this & curious if Android users have reported issues with Sencha Touch apps being slow to the touch?

On my Android device, all Sencha Touch stuff has been lagg-y.

Any advice?

We are starting to figure out android... Here are my tips.
1. Keep the DOM small... Not so easy when bugs make it hard to remove and re-add components.
2. Keep gradients and graphics to a bare minimum... The shadows behind the pictures are not box-shadows... they are png images. When we are ready to deploy we do a final round of all graphics and optimalize everything from format to number of colors etc.
3. Test everything on android as you develop.
4. We only advertise support for Android 2.1+ (aiming at Galaxy S and better). The older 600Mhz android phones are just not good enough.
5. Use PhoneGap build and deploy to Market... seems to work better than web version.

You can test the Yggdrasil app using the Android Market version to give you an idea of performance.

Thanks for the comments :-)

Lack of GPU acceleration really slows down the Android's browser.

Though this is not ideal, Simon's suggestion of flat graphics are the best solution until the Android team improves the browser. Develop using CSS3 for quick changes, then switch to flat graphics once you have everything nailed down.
