A simple question:

can I use ExtJS with community license for my SAAS application without making the whole application open source?

Accoridng to this post, GPL v3 doesn't requires it -

Thanks,
Tim

This is a community forum and we cannot answer legal questions concerning your licensing arrangements with Sencha. I would be wary of making a legal decision based on what one person says on their website.

The following page contains the details Sencha provide, including a link to their FAQ.

http://www.sencha.com/products/extjs/license/

You could contact Sencha for clarification but I think the last paragraph of the FAQ (titled GPL v3 Is The Official License) is well worth a read.

Don't expect too much legal advice from our lawyers

Thank you for the guidance skirtle,

reading this paragraph makes it clear that ExtJS community edition is fully GPL v.3 (which on his own is "SAAS friendly").

Cheers,
