Using the "split" config for a panel looks nicer than using "resizable" in my opinion.
But why is only resizable documented here http://docs.sencha.com/ext-js/4-0/#!/api/Ext.panel.Panel (http://docs.sencha.com/ext-js/4-0/#%21/api/Ext.panel.Panel)?

Is there a reason not to use "split" ?

Split is used with a border layout to separate regions (center & north for example). For example, if we had the following:

layout: 'border'
items: [{
region: 'center',
xtype: 'tabpanel',
split: true
},{
region: 'north',
height: 300,
split: true
}]

Then by adjusting the height of the north region, we would subsequently be adjusting the height of the center region as well.

This is different then the resizable config which allows you to adjust in both directions and only affects the panel:

Ext.create('Ext.panel.Panel', {
title: 'Test',
height: 300,
width: 300,
resizable: true,
renderTo: Ext.getBody()
});

Thanks for the clarification !
I still don't see where split is documented though, except in an example here http://docs.sencha.com/ext-js/4-0/#!/api/Ext.layout.container.Border (http://docs.sencha.com/ext-js/4-0/#%21/api/Ext.layout.container.Border).
