View Full Version : Extending Sencha Touch with Native Java or Obj-C SDK's..??

I have some hardware for mobile devices (a magnetic stripe reader) that I need to get working within my mobile applications. The hardware comes with native SDK's for Android, iOS, and Blackberry.

I had been playing with Appcelerator a little bit and I was able to take my existing native SDK's and convert them to Appcelerator modules so that I can use the same methods (and get the hardware working accordingly) within Appcelerator apps pretty quickly and easily.

I'd rather use Sencha / HTML5 for development, but I'll need to make sure I can utilize these native SDK's in the same way. Is this something that's possible with Sencha?

Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Absolutely!
You can wrap your Sencha Touch app inside a native app and use frameworks like PhoneGap that allow you to create plugins / modules that works on the native code and that can also be used by the Sencha Touch HTML5 app.

Hope this helps.
