I get an error both in firefox and ie with this code.

var viewport = new Ext.Viewport({
items: new Ext.form.HtmlEditor()
});
In firefox i get "B has no properties". In IE i get "B.register is null or not an object".
Or am i missing something?

Please search before posting. There are a couple threads that discuss the fact you can't just dump an htmlEditor in a layout. see this for starters http://extjs.com/forum/showthread.php?p=73784

This is a simplified example just to show the error. I get exact same error in a proper form layout. And I made the above post after reading the posts you mentioned.

Ok figured it now. To use HtmlEditor anywhere you need to have

Ext.QuickTips.init();

This is not mentioned in the HtmlEditor docs. The following code works!

Ext.QuickTips.init();
var viewport = new Ext.Viewport({
layout: 'fit',
items: new Ext.form.HtmlEditor()
});
