You should already be comfortable with MySQL and connecting to a MySQL database from Java. If you're not, brush up on those topics first. See http://dev.mysql.com/usingmysql/java/.
Once you've extracted the relevant data from the database, you can send them using GWT RPC as ordinary Java bean-like objects. See http://code.google.com/webtoolkit/doc/latest/DevGuideServerCommunication.html.
Assuming you're using Ext GWT 2, you probably mean BeanModel. You can find the client-side code for a BeanModel Grid in the BeanModel Grid Example (http://sencha.com/examples/#beanmodelgrid). Click on the Source tab.
It's important to note that extracting data from a database and the GWT RPC mechanism are not changed by the use of Ext GWT and BeanModel on the client side. As long as those parts are working properly, the Ext GWT example will illustrate perfectly what you need to do.
