View Full Version : Sencha Touch with Canvas

I was wondering as Sencha Touch uses HTML5 and CSS3 to draw things on WebView which works nice on iOS devices, works fine on Android and Blackberry devices so it doesn't work on Windows Mobile, Symbians and others devices. Wouldn't a canvas based approach be good in drawing things on screen like native app works?

My idea is simple. Put canvas that fills whole WebView and draw things like toolbar, panel, buttons and other components on it. Write your own touch event mechanism. This way won't it support for vast range of devices giving ultimate performance with more cross-browser capability? The only overhead is development time and cost but it would work like a charm!

Canvas is really slow. I know because I'm developing an HTML5 game that uses canvas and it's *very* slow on android devices, especially.
