View Full Version : Workaround for slow connections like GPRS/EDGE?

16 Mar 2012, 12:08 PM
Hi there,
I ran into problems with an app while loading image files on slow connections.
It seems that there will be timeouts on slower mobile connections like EDGE/GPRS.
The images won't be displayed, only a missing image symbol.

This is my code:

I add this container to a panel.

this.contentProgrammbeirat = new Ext.Container({
scroll: 'vertical',
title: 'Title',
html: '<img src="/img/big_image-01.jpg" /> <img src="/img/big_image-02.jpg" /> <img src="/img/big_image-03.jpg" />'

What would be a good workaround?

The only workaround is to optimize your images

The images are already optimized and only have about 10kb per image.
Right now I'm using a plain Javascript workaround loading image after image using the Javascript's Image Object functions onLoad and src, also displaying a loader before loading which works quite nice. I'd like to transfer this workaround to a plugin but I don't know how...
