Hi,

I am interested in engaging a developer for some rapid prototyping to reskin an existing web application using yui-ext.

The basic layout is similar to a file explorer, with a tree on the left and a grid on the right that shows files that correspond to the selected nodes. Also want to develop a sample dialog to add files via a profile form. We might also want to implement a horizontal splitter in the right pane, so that the selected file in the grid above is previewed in the section below.

The intent is to get a leg up on the js code, and direction as to the changes we need to make on the back-end to populate the tree and grids. The tree can be deep, and I would be interested in implementing lazy loading. The project might expand if the proof of concept is successful.

If you are interested, please email me your contact information to [email protected]
with your rates and estimates to achieve a layout like the one I described.

Thanks,

Jordan

Why don't ya propose it to Jack? He must be quite busy but I'd feel really bad if I'd stole some of his possible income.

... propsing it to Jack via emails and posts.. but I guess he's been busy.

Are you interested in the project?

Thanks,

Jordan

recently I've been working on something very similar to what you are seeking so...no, i'm not interested. I'll leave it to someone else who might want to get their hands dirty with it as it is not THAT hard to implement.

good luck on finding someone reliable!

Just don't have the bandwith right now to set that up. I would expect that if someone is fluent this could be put together in a couple of days work... but there do not seem to be many takers for some reason. Just for curiosity, how long do you think it would take you to build a 3 pane proto with the tree in the left, corresponding data grid to the node selected in the right, and a hideable preview pane in the bottom?

Thanks,

Jordan

hmm lemme see...are you an experienced JS coder? And have you played around with yui-ext? if your answer is no well a couple of days is a good estimate. For someone experienced with yui-ext, I'd say around 1 hour to set the whole layout. (The main layout having a left and a center section. and a nested layout in the center.). Another hour for the grid and the preview panel on the bottom. another hour for the TreePanel with lazy loading. Finally around 1 hour to set the server up using PHP and XAMPP.

edit: oh And another 2 hours to wrap everything up with real data.

that estimate is for someone who hasn't done it before. I'd say cut everything in half for someone who has done it a least once and who kept the code around.

Bernard,

Is that something you could help me with over a space of a couple of weeks? The current back-end btw is Domino, but it's easy to generate the required input and outputs... we are already doing some ajax type things, but none of my guys is at this level yet with JS.

Thanks,

Jordan

Jordan,

Several Domino developers have been working on what you are seeking. There are two projects on OpenNTF.org that should get you started. One, Domino Web Tools, is my project and the other, Domino YUI is Rich Waters and Niel Revelle.

Domino Web Tools
http://www.openntf.org/Projects/pmt.nsf/ProjectLookup/Domino%20Web%20Tools

Domino YUI

If you like either of these and need specific customizations that you yourself does not have the time to do, then I'm sure that either myself or Rich or Niel would be glad to contract out our services. I plan to do what Jack is doing here and offer a paypal donate link on my site (http://jackratcliff.com) soon with a portion of any donations for my domino+Ext implemention going back to this project.
