Hi,

I'm new about ExtJS. I want to run an ExtJS sample which read local XML into store and write it back after some operations. I follow http://www.sencha.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-11767.html but seems not work in Extjs4.
I tried Ext-basex as discussion http://www.sencha.com/forum/showthread.php?10672-Want-to-Run-Ext-Without-a-Webserver but can't make a sample success.

In fact, run ExtJS without any web server is good start point for any new comer, this looks like a popular topic across forum. Where can we find a runnable example with ExtJS4?

Thanks,

Mimi

To do what you are asking requires a web server. Without something listening to port 80 how would your computer know that you were wanting to save data? And to where? The easiest thing would be to install a LAMP/WAMP toolkit which is typically designed to run in an isolated environment like a standalone computer.

What if I just read/write an XML file from local with ExtJS4? It is impossible?

Let's look at previous forum suggestions as below link, How those work before and work again in ExtJS4?

Your web browser does not have the right to write to the file system. This is on purpose, and is a very good idea.

You have two options:

1. use a web server - perhaps you could embed one using a signed Java applet or similar.

2. run your ExtJS application inside an executable, the same way that Ext Designer did. They used the QT framework.
