Hi,

I am having some character encoding problems with EXT 1.1 My web application supports ISO-8859-1 character set everywhere - all pages have this character set in the HTTP headers. Before the application had EXT widgets everything worked perfectly - European languages were properly supported. However, as soon as I introduced EXT widgets customers started to complain about wrong characters in European languages.

This was noticed in combo boxes and grids:
1) European characters are properly displayed in comboboxes, however when a user makes a selection in the combobox, the selected value sometimes is not displayed at all and sometimes is displayed with wrong characters
2) European characters are not displayed properly in a grid

Does anyone have any clue why? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

I'm having the same issue.
In our JSP pages European characters are displayed just fine.
However, when we display the same data within the Ext GridPanel, the characters are not displayed property.
When I look at the JSON serializer output, the serialized field is showing the proper european character.
Any resolution for this?

I was able to solve the issue of displaying European characters in GridPanel by setting the character encoding to UTF-8 for my JSON responses...

response.setCharacterEncoding("UTF-8");
