Hi,

How to use Split Button like functionality on the Tabs of a tab panel: i.e. to show the drop down menu on a Tab like it can be done on Split button, but also keep the close X on each tab?

Yes.
Besides the standard Tab functionality (icons, close X, keyboard navigation/activation, etc.) we also need the SplitButton like DropDown menu.

Using simply a context menu on the Tabs, doesn't seem to be user friendly enough:
- some tabs shouldn't have a context menu, so it's hard to distinct the two cases.
- user changed browser settings can deactivate the menu - and it happens allot.

You can add an icon to the tab like the close icon and then handle the click on it to show the menu like you would with the contextmenu. In fact you could reuse the same menu if you have that working.
