View Full Version : Getting started

Hello everyone-

I have been using Architect for a few weeks and managed to get through all of the tutorials. I was running this all on a virtual machine running XP and IIS, and I had some trouble initially figuring out the file system. Once I did though, I obviously didn't change anything and was able to preview the projects just fine.

I am now trying to use Touch and SDK tools to first get my bearings, probably following the tutorials here: http://www.sencha.com/learn/getting-started-with-sencha-touch-2/ and here: http://docs.sencha.com/touch/2-0/#!/guide/first_app before trying to create a basic Sharepoint app following Luc Stakenborg's tutorial here: http://www.sencha.com/blog/building-sharepoint-web-apps-using-sencha-touch/

Now, as I am trying to set everything up, I unzipped the Touch files and SDK files into the server's root folder, where I had stored my Architect projects. I realize now that I should probably move these onto the desktop or something, and save the projects onto the server's folder like I did with Architect. Either way, looking at the tutorials and entering my command prompt, the "sencha" command does not work and the tutorials are written (with Linux? Somebody else told me this, I'm no expert) assuming the user is on a Mac, apparently. A push (or healthy shove) in the right direction would be appreciated.

Edit: Additional information- Looking at the documentation for Sencha Command here: http://docs.sencha.com/touch/2-0/#!/guide/command
I can see that the instructions appear to be more Windows-friendly. However, the instructions here say to extract the SDK to a local directory (which is why I was confused about where to unzip my files earlier). Either way, the "sencha" command doesn't work in the command line.
