View Full Version : [IE6][ExtJS4.1.3] Drag & Drop is slow when using Ext.application()

Hello.
In IE6, drag & drop takes about 2 seconds in 4.1.3 when using Ext.application().
Without using Ext.application(), drag & drop takes for a moment.

Do you have any ideas to make it fast?
I am using Intel Core 2 CPU 6700 2.66GHz.

Thanks in advance.

Slower version.

Ext.application({
name: 'DnDSample',
launch: function() {
Ext.create('Ext.panel.Panel', {
renderTo: Ext.getBody(),
items: [
Ext.create('Ext.grid.Panel', {
viewConfig: {
plugins: {
ptype: 'gridviewdragdrop'
}
},
store: Ext.create('Ext.data.Store', {
model: Ext.define('DataObject', {
extend: 'Ext.data.Model',
fields: ['name']
}),
data: [{ name : "0" }, { name : "1"}, { name : "2"}]
}),
columns: [
{dataIndex: 'name'}
]
})
]
});
}
});

Faster version

Ext.onReady(function() {
Ext.create('Ext.panel.Panel', {
renderTo: Ext.getBody(),
items: [
Ext.create('Ext.grid.Panel', {
viewConfig: {
plugins: {
ptype: 'gridviewdragdrop'
}
},
store: Ext.create('Ext.data.Store', {
model: Ext.define('DataObject', {
extend: 'Ext.data.Model',
fields: ['name']
}),
data: [{ name : "0" }, { name : "1"}, { name : "2"}]
}),
columns: [
{dataIndex: 'name'}
]
})
]
});
});

Out of curiosiosity is 4.2 or 4.2.1 Beta any faster for you?

Thank you for your reply, slemmon.

It was hard to upgrade from 4.1.0 to 4.1.3.
I don't feel like upgrading to 4.2 unless 4.2 has enough benefit.
(Actually I don't know if it has or not.)

In 4.1.0, drag & drop was quick. Why is it slow in 4.1.3?
In 4.2, is it quick?

I've not seen others complaining of performance issues with drag and drop in 4.2 and haven't seen anything like that myself. That said, if you're having trouble you might try some use case tests in 4.2. Sencha doesn't have a hosted platform for making your own creations directly, though you can edit any projects found in try.sencha.com. But, you can't save a project directly in try.sencha.com like you can if you were to use JSFiddle.net.

Thank you for your reply.

I tried 4.2, but D&D speed was same as 4.1.3.
Jsfiddle.net is convenient, but isn't compatible with IE6.

This problem occurs in Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2, IE6.0.3790.3959.
In Windows XP, it doesn't occur.
