Desktop Example Questions

I really like the Desktop example (examples/desktop/desktop.html) and so did a few of my potential users when I showed it to them. Had a couple of questions about it though:

1) Anyone have any experience in fielding their own App as a desktop app? Any problems/gotchas I should know about.
2) Are there any licensing issues with my potential use of the Desktop framework for my own app? Are the issues code related or should I just avoid using the current apps icons/images?

I know some users have adapted the desktop example to their liking (though it is only distributed as an example - not a full application platform - so you may need to modify / augment to your liking along the way).
