View Full Version : Question on Custom Themes

The theming guide says to run Sencha Cmd to:
- setup the workspace
- generate a test app to test the custom theme

The test app is located inside the workspace folder. My question is, does the app that will use the theme need to be located inside the workspace folder? Or can it reside elsewhere, and it simply uses the built custom theme?

We have an existing app that we now want to use a custom theme, so the app is not inside a workspace.

Thanks in advance!

Just wondering if anyone can provide info on this. Its my first week at a new company, and my first task is to work on theming for our ExtJS app.

Just stuffed the turkey and put it in the oven. If anyone else has done so and has a moment, any feedback on this issue would be appreciated.

Hi I didn't see a version number so I am assuming that you are using the latest version of the framework.

First place to go would be the Theming documentation so that is a good start. I assume you went here http://docs.sencha.com/extjs/4.2.1/#!/guide/themingI'll try to address your question and then give you some additional resources. The sample file is just that. It is placed in the workspace to simplify it but in general you could have multiple apps pointing to the same workspace folder and the packages folder where your themes could reside.

There are several presentations available from our most recent SenchaCon that go into Theming in much more detail.

lThen there were three on Theming

I think those should be quite helpful. Additionally, we are in the process of launching an Advanced Theming Course. Plans are to offer it as an Open Enrollment Course and also OnLine. See the Training Page for dates. Should be available in the next month. Hope you will find the information useful.

the app doesnt have to be in that workspace which you created for theming. all you need is the generated css file! then instead of including ext-all.css or (neptune theme) in your html file, include this css file and it should work.
