Categorized views are obviously very important for a lot of folks. This is in the works and is very high on our priority list.

We still have some more work on our ultimate goal of categorized web views that will work just like their notes counterpart. For now, we have decided to include "basic" support for categorized views in the next beta. The way categorized views will work are just like the default way domino renders and handles categorized views when using html. So, there will be a few limitations like only being able to expand one category at a time and when paging through the data, there will be times when you won't be able to see which category was expanded.

In any case, while we are wrapping up this next beta, you can see how categorized will work by going to the demo app on OpenNTF. (http://openntf.org/extnd/demo.nsf)

Looks good, will probably address most of the categorized view needs.

Only wish is that you change (or make it an option to change) the default Domino web twistie. The +/- used in the outline would look a lot better.

Hey Mike, glad to hear that you can test this. I've tried to make many different categorized views to test this out with and all seem to work pretty well. I have found a couple of issues when you have the "Not Categorized" column here or there and I still have some issues with the paging toolbar with categorized views. So the more different types of categorized views we can test the better.

Oh, and does anyone have any views with response docs that we can test? I have that working now too. :)

We do have it as an option that can be changed. We have added two new properties for Ext.nd.UIView. One called 'expandIcon' and the other, 'collapseIcon'. With these you can pass the path to an image file you want to use for the expand and collapse icon. But I do agree that the +/- should be the default instead of Domino's twistie. I'll look into seeing if we can do set that as the default instead.

Actually the same DB that I want to use it on has non-categorized views, single, double and triple categorized views as well as an entire section of response docs as well ...

Just point me to beta 2.1

Mike, sounds like you have the perfect test db for this then. Also, looking at the pic you posted, do you see that bug with the grid height not calculating correctly? We believe we have that fixed as well in this next release. :)

only using Firefox. Are there limitations with IE? It displays the two frames with 'loading view...' and just hangs.

Hmm :-?, what version of IE and OS are you running? I just tested it on XP/IE6 and Vista/IE7 and it works fine for me.

OK, I've changed the default twistie icons to +/- icons. Take a look at the online demo and let me know what you think.

I'm using XP profession v2002 sp2/ IE 6.

Another question, will there be a config setting to allow us to use the full screen for the view without showing the left navigator (view list)?

Do you get any errors in IE? I take it you don't see a grid on the right side, what about the left side? Do you see the outline?

As for the view only option for DominoUI, I'll check with Rich to see if he has anything planned with that.

I attached a screen print. I receive no errors.

It looks like the issue has to do with the view design and data not loading nor the outline data. For the outline, we only make one ajax call in the format of:

http://server/db/outline?ReadEntries

For the view, we make 3 ajax calls:

http://server/db/view?ReadDesign
http://server/db/view?ReadViewEntries
http://server/extnddb/extnd/2.0.1/DXLExporter?OpenAgent&db=yourdb&type=view&name=yourview

So what happens when you manually load these from your browser? Do you get xml data back? Or an error?

I get an error back that page cannot be displayed.

If I replace: http://server/db/view?ReadDesign with http://www.server.com/db/view?ReadDesign, then I get data. Must be a setting in my IE although I'm not sure which one to change.

Ok, I forgot that you said you are seeing this error directly on the OpenNTF site. Therefore, are you saying that the outline and view does NOT load in IE for the OpenNTF demo but that a ?ReadDesign does work? Can you download Fiddler (or something similar) and check the http traffic between IE and the OpenNTF site to the demo and let us know of any errors (pages that don't load).
