I have overriden the style of a toolbar button(ExtJs 3.2) with my own css class as follows:

#addDetail .x-btn-tl { background-position: 0 0; }
#addDetail .x-btn-tr { background-position: -3px 0; } ..... .....

But,on mouse-over I wish the button to display the default behaviour/style.
So,I set the overCls property of the button:

{xtype : "button", id: 'addDetail', overCls: 'x-button-over', width: 60, ... }

But this does not seem to work - as the button seems to be 'stuck' with the style i had set earlier.
How do i override that?

So your CSS needs to use the overCls right? Use the dev tools, it will show what styles are applied on the element so you can understand what is being used and what isn't.
