I'm relatively new to web apps and understand that allowing a javascript app to write files anywhere on the local hard drive is a huge security risk.
Never the less, I have been researching various methods for doing this such as the HTML5 file API, flash, plug-ins, etc. I have heard that the HTML5 file API is losing support and I don't want to rely on flash, plug-ins or extensions to do this.
I recently, came across the Autodesk Pixlr app (https://pixlr.com/) which appears to accomplish this on all browsers seemingly without any of that. Could anyone hazard a guess on how they do this?
All of the other web apps I have encountered can only do this to specific download locations.

Thanks.

Pixlr is a Flash app so plays by a different set of security rules than the Javascript web apps. There is no support for saving a file to the file system in ExtJS.
