I understand this will fix issues re: phone numbers be returned as numbers vs. strings. but is there less heavy lifting of the framework if all fields are typed in the model? Or, is it not worth the effort?

Thanks

This should be easy to test :) I'm pretty sure the difference will be really minor since these are in memory operations.

If you specify a type it will attempt to transform the value. In an isolated test this will be very minor likely but if you have hundreds or thousands of records possible in a store (infinite/buffered grid) then this could add up. If you don't specify a type then auto will be given to the field which should not attempt any transformation and is the quickest a field can be.
